Our Story

Imagine for a moment, it’s Friday afternoon around 3:45 p.m. The sun is shining outside and the promise of a beautiful weekend lays ahead.

You and your loved one sit waiting side by side in two chairs, silently holding hands in anticipation of what’s to come.

Across from you, separated by a large stately oak desk, is your doctor. The air inside his office feels thick enough to slice. You notice how loud your breathing seems in the uncomfortable silence. After what seems an eternity you meet the eyes of your doctor. They reveal to you a nervous heaviness. You breathe in deeply as he clears his throat. Suddenly you become aware of the lump forming in your throat and you hear him say the dreaded words, "The test results are back and it doesn’t look good."

This is our story. When my husband Joe received his diagnosis, we had no idea how to process the overwhelming amount of information from Western, Eastern, Alternative and Holistic medicine. Although the years of healing and spiritual practice with many different shamans, cultures and ceremonial experiences deepened our connection to a Divine source. We felt ill-prepared for this journey, with time against us, we felt consumed by fear of choosing the wrong modality or missing the miracle cure. Feeling alone and isolated, we needed hope, refuge and to find some meaning to the madness. We needed calm, peaceful guidance from people who had walked this path before.

Sol Sanctuary began as a means to offer this support. It has grown over the past several years as new kindred spirits continue to synchronize with our purpose. Since first envisioning a place of refuge, to its continuum of evolvement, I feel humbled and grateful to participate in the co-creation of Sol Sanctuary. We envision a day when we live in a world free from fear, where peace and harmony reside, where love flows freely and both life and death are celebrated. Our choice in the spelling of Sol is intentional. Sol as in the Sun is infinite light. Our Souls too are infinite light. Sol and Soul are one in the same.

Our intention for Sol Sanctuary is all who experience her grace feel safe, experience love and to know that we are love.

Namaste,

Our Dream

We envision a community nestled in a canyon or a meadow of green where sunlight warms your face as you relax near a bubbling brook. Among the trees and creek there are paths that meander through flowers, birds and butterflies. One may walk simply for the pleasure of being or may sit quietly breathing in the fresh clean air. The Sanctuary provides opportunities for growth, connection and deepening your life experience.

The structures are built with the intention of providing a safe haven that supports and complements the landscape and the souls there in. The Sanctuary nourishes our physical bodies with healthy organic food while our spiritual being remembers and regenerates itself.

Board Members

Jennifer Jacobs
Founder, Executive Director

Jennifer is the mother of six beautiful children. She is an author, visionary and humanitarian. Her business background in the corporate arena specialized in training, sales and coaching.

She has studied with many shamans and spiritual teachers over the years. Bringing her expertise from the corporate arena and blending it with her spiritual practices enables her to passionately, lovingly and compassionately support others on their spiritual journey.

Jennifer is full of love and radiates it in all that she touches. Her experience with the deaths of loved ones beginning with her father as a child, has now reached the double digits and she believes these experiences have all been aligned perfectly with her soul purpose. Although each of these experiences has brought growth, they pale in comparison to the deep journey she experienced with the death of her soul companion Joe. Sol Sanctuary is a reflection of Jennifer.

The Late Joe Jacobs
Founder, Honorary Board Member

Joe is the father of six beautiful children. His legacy lives on in his children, our memories and his jokes. Joe is a man with an enormously generous heart. Caring for the wellbeing of others anonymously is a common trait. We are grateful to have his continual presence with us as we co-create Sol Sanctuary.
